SMILES IS ON A SLEEPOVER WITH A POTENTIAL ADOPTER!

Smiles is a happy young fellow looking for his forever home. He came from Putnam County, Florida where he was found wandering the streets and taken to animal services. He was very thin and his left ear had a tear in it. He was scheduled to be euthanized because no one claimed him but a volunteer stepped in and sent out pictures of him asking for a rescue to take him and give him a safe place to stay until a forever home could be found for him.  He got his name from the big toothy grin he gave one of the volunteers at the shelter who was taking his picture. 

Smiles is an exuberant young guy who has yet to meet a stranger.   His foster mom has not seen him grin yet but she says he is friendly to everyone he meets and smiles with his whole body wagging back and forth when greeted.  He is a handsome fellow with beautiful tri color markings and some red ticking on his legs and nose. He gets along well with the dogs in his foster home. He has greeted and rubbed noses with the resident cat and totally ignored a cat he passed when walking on a leash so it appears he is good with cats and dogs.  He loves the grandchildren (ages 3 & 5) who visit his foster home a few hours each afternoon and wants to give them lots of doggie kisses.  He likes to run and play ball in the fenced yard and will sometimes bring it back and sometimes just toss it in the air himself and chase it around.  He does sit quietly and does not bark when joggers or bicyclists go by his foster home.  He is quiet when he is in his crate and sleeps through the night.

So far Smiles does appear to be house trained and he has had no accidents in his foster home. 

He has been neutered. He tested positive for heartworms so has been treated to eradicate them and will have to be kept quiet in the coming weeks as he recovers.

His foster mom says Smiles will make a wonderful family dog because he is so loving and friendly, or a great jogging partner for someone because he loves to run and looks like he is just floating on air when he does.

When the time comes, whoever adopts Smiles will think they have won the “Dog Lottery” for sure!
