08/02/13 UPDATE: Happy, happy, happy!! That's Elliot. But for now, he needs to be in reasonably familiar surroundings to show you this - it only takes a little time and patience to assure this little guy that he is safe and loved. Dogs love routine, and Elliot has got his down in his foster home. He knows where he is supposed to potty, where to eat, sleeps quietly in his crate at night and has learned "sit" and "lie down". Elliot plays well with other dogs and is enjoying being part of a pack at his foster home. He will play alone with toys or engage in some tug of war or fetch with a person. He does need to be handled carefully on a leash if he is in unfamiliar surroundings, but at his foster home he can run around the yard off leash and will come when he is called. Elliot does bark when he is excited but is not noisy otherwise. He is a bit wiggly to cuddle, but his affection shows even when he is in motion. Elliot looks at you with deep brown eyes and his bottom wiggles with his tail. He will certainly be some family's joy!!

06/30/13 UPDATE:  Elliot must be thinking he won the lottery!! He does not appear to have been a Beagle that lived in a house before, so he is cautious but curious and is slowly venturing to explore his new home. He has decided his foster parents are pretty nice and follows them around his new place. Elliot is a bit uncertain at this point about leash walking, but we are confident that over time his new canine buddy, who is more experienced at this lottery life, will show him how it's done. We are looking forward to sharing more about Elliot as he grows more confident now that he is safe, secure and loved.

ELLIOT is one of 6 Beagles that came to us from a rural shelter in Louisiana, where they had little chance of being adopted or saved.  They were all dropped off in the overnight box at the shelter by their owner without any reason why. ELLIOT and his Beagle friends all seem happy and friendly little hounds, just as Beagles are bound to be.  We shall find out about Elliot's personality after he spends a little more time in his foster home.
