***UPDATE*** Leia is adjusting well to life with other dogs. She came into our rescue along with her brother, but probably had not had much socialization with other dogs. She is doing a super great job with the big changes in her life and is learning to make friends with new canine buddies. She can occasionally be just a little uncertain but the calm, friendly dogs in her foster home are a big help...the happy rowdy ones too! Leia's main focus though is people. She is very affectionate and loves giving kisses and snuggling with her foster mom or dad. She will fetch a ball but does not seem interested in other toys at this time.  Leia uses the dog door in her foster home to go outside to potty and has no accidents. She is crated at meal times and to sleep at night.

NEW ARRIVAL

Princess Leia seems to know she is royalty. She is very beautiful but also very affectionate. Leia LOVES to give kisses! She and her brother, Luke Skywalker were surrendered to us by an owner who had them since puppyhood, but due to current circumstances in her life she could no longer provide for them. She did share with us though that when she acquired the two puppies, she saw both parents and they were indeed a beagle and an Australian Cattle Dog or Blue Heeler. Leia is slightly more dominant than Luke and although they play together well, she will let him know when his manners need adjusting. (Please see video clip with other pictures below.) Leia is smart and obedient and she knows her sit command. She eats and sleeps in her crate but her foster mom says she has now earned her trust to have free roam of house and fenced yard when left alone for a few hours with no potty accidents and no mischief. Leia, like Luke will express her disappointment when foster mom has to leave and they will howl together for a time but then they will quiet down. Leia's temperament testing with our friends at Procyon Training went very well and she did fine meeting other dogs with proper introduction. Leia will be beginning a new life apart from her brother soon as Luke will be going to a Board and Train Program. We are confident that we are making the best choice for her and that she will continue to thrive. She is a happy dog who really loves her humans!
