Rascal IV has an adoption pending and will be going on a sleepover! 
UPDATE:  This beagle boy is primed and ready for his forever home! Rascal is so affectionate and playful and loves other dogs, in fact he would do immensely better in a home that had at least one other dog. He is somewhat submissive so it's just fine if the other dog wants to be in the lead. Rascal's initial proclivity to find electronics to chew (which earned him the nickname "Radio Shack") has passed on and Rascal is an obedient and eager to please little guy. He has made straight "As" in housetraining from the beginning and he sleeps quietly in his crate at night. Rascal used to be very uncomfortable about being picked up but is learning now that it often means belly rubs! He can still be shy and skittish in new situations or when meeting new people, so he would be ever so grateful for a family that would understand he had some scary stuff in his past and who would give him time to adjust to a new situation. Here again, another friendly dog or two who would accept him into the pack would make a big difference! Rascal would also like you to know that he really is not a big fan of being left alone, but he has learned to stay alone in his crate where he is safe for about 4 hours now. He's just such a social little guy and he loves company! Rascal would do wonderful with children but he would probably prefer slightly older ones that know how to be gentle and respectful. He is so hoping for a family to become a part of and ready to delight them with his loving and playful personality!!

UPDATE:  RASCAL IV is doing great in his foster home! He has grown so much more confident and now enjoys explorirng the yard with the other dogs. He gets along really well with everyone but at this point he is still wanting to stick pretty close to his foster mom. Rascal has had no accidents in the house and once we were confident he would come back in when we called him we let him learn the dog door. He picked it up very quickly and seemed quite pleased with his new skill.  Food is of course a big deal, but he will sit for a treat and takes it gently. Rascal shows no aggression towards other dogs when food is around but is fed separately as are all the dogs in his foster home. At first, Rascal did not have any interest in toys but then seemed to discover the toy box all at once and had to invesigate each and every one spreading them all around him! He has mistaken a couple of objects (carelessly laid down nearby him) for toys but redirected very well. Rascal is very responsive to correction - in fact he seems very eager to please!  He is not a fan of the crate and does whine when foster mom has to leave him, but will eventually settle down. He sleeps in a dog bed at night. 

New Arrival - RASCAL IV
Rascal came from Alabama with Peanut II who may possibly be his sister. They are both gorgeous beagles but are a little uncertain of humans - especially Rascal. He is being neutered at our vet's office and we are grateful to report that Rascal tested negative for heartworms. He will be going to a foster home with several other dogs which will make him feel comfortable, and we will work with him to see that he has an opportunity to transition gradually to his new life.
