Spencer is probably more Walker Hound than Beagle, but the wound on his left shoulder made him unadoptable according to the county shelter, and we just could not leave this sweet guy behind.
He is easy-going and actually kind of goofy and curious. He is warmly affectionate to both people and dogs - although it's possible he may not have had a lot of experience at being part of a family. However, he is adjusting well to his foster home and learning how to have good house manners. Spencer has made excellent progress with housetraining and he currently eats and sleeps in his crate. He does reasonably well on a leash, is beginning to learn the "sit" command and will be working on "down". Although he does like to stretch his long legs and run, he also enjoys rolling around on his back and playing with his own feet! Check out the picture below.
The wound on Spencer's left shoulder was of undertermined origin. It was examined by our veterinarian who determined that it was healing well and should have no adverse long lasting effect. At this time his coat is already beginning to grow back over it and it's a thing of the past.
Spencer did test positive for heartworms and will have to complete treatment prior to his adoption being finalized.
